One New Year’s resolution that seems to crop up each year is trying new things. However, part of doing this means finding events nearby where you can engage in your favorite activities and meet a host of new characters along the way. But if you live in an area like Woodbridge, Virginia, you might be asking yourself, what exactly is there to do near me? There are a ton of events to catch this coming month.

If you’re on the lookout for new things to experience, here are five events to check out in Virginia this February!

The Coastal Virginia Magazine WineFest

If you’re a fan of wine, this event is one that you absolutely can’t miss. The Coastal Virginia Magazine WineFest takes place in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the Virginia Beach Convention Center for two days on February 5 and February 6.  As the WineFest website explains, this event offers wine tasting as you sample some of Virginia’s finest craft wines, a craft beer garden for those who may be looking to vary their alcoholic beverages, and a new distillery den.

Being that this is a festival, you can also expect live music, a wide range of vendors, and plenty of exciting food and snacks. If you’re looking to make a weekend out of it, there are even hotel packages that you can buy! For those who can’t say no to festival settings, the Coastal Virginia Magazine WineFest is one of the top events to book tickets for in February of 2022. Make sure you get them while they’re still available!

Steal the Glass/Snag the Swag at Blue Mountain Brewery

Blue Mountain Brewery in Afton, Virginia, is a farm brewery that grows its own hops and crafts American beer on site. They’re open daily, and they offer a wide array of beer choices including their Core Series of beers, their Barrel House series, and their Seasonal series. What locals who love their beers should pay attention to, however, is the Steal the Glass/Snag the Swag events happening throughout the year.

On the first Thursday of each month, Blue Mountain Brewery will be offering free or deeply discounted exclusive merchandise with every purchase of a draft beer. If this is something that you can get excited about, you can visit their website to learn more about where they’re located and what types of beers, food, and merchandise they have to offer.  They’ll also post these specials to their social media. Just make sure you consume and drive responsibly!

3 World Premiers

Hosted at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas, Virginia, and presented by the Virginia National Ballet, 3 World Premiers is a performance offering three new ballet premiers for those in the surrounding areas to enjoy. These consist of:

  • The Beatles: an electrifying, high-energy contemporary ballet performed to some of the Beatles’ greatest hits.
  • Tango Nights: a sensuous neo-classical ballet performed to the beautiful and evocative music of Astor Piazzolla, an Argentinian composer.
  • For those we lost: a powerful and moving tribute to those who lost their lives to COVID-19.

This event was originally scheduled for the February 12, but it was recently moved to the February 26. If you’re deeply touched by the arts, especially ballet, you can learn more about this event and purchase tickets for it by visiting the Virginia National Ballet website

Wine Lovers 5K at Cardinal Point Vineyard & Winery

If you happen to find yourself in Afton, Virginia for the Steal the Glass/Snag the Swag at Blue Mountain Brewery, don’t leave just yet. There’s another Afton-based event that you won’t want to miss if you’re a fan of certain alcoholic beverages, and that’s the Wine Lovers 5K at Cardinals Point Vineyard on February 12. This is perfect timing also if you find yourself buying tickets for the 3 World premiers event above.

The Wine Lovers 5K is a race that starts at the winery, winds its way through gorgeous country back roads, and finishes back at the winery. The race is perfect for people of any age, and even those who want to participate from home can sign up as well. If you show up to the physical race, you get an event shirt, a modified wine tasting, and a commemorative finisher glass. There will also be an after-party with food and music!

If you run from home, you get a tech tee and a Cardinal Point coupon for 20% off wine that’s good through the weekend of the event. You can learn more about the event and register for the event by visiting the Corkscrew Racing website

African American Cultural Heritage Exhibits at Jamestown Settlement & American Revolution Museum

Only available from February 1 to February 28, the African American Cultural Heritage Exhibits at Jamestown Settlement & American Revolution Museum at Williamsburg, Virginia, gives you the opportunity to explore exhibits, film, and programs detailing the experience of African Americans in early America. Whether it’s from the perspective of people in Virginia in 1619 or those participating in the Revolutionary War, this exhibit can be an educational experience you don’t want to miss.

You can learn more about these exhibits as well as discover what the museum has to offer by visiting their website. If you plan on making your visit a weekend trip, you can even book hotels and find packages from their website.
