If you’re looking for a hatchback that has plenty of cargo and passenger space and is fuel-efficient to boot, the Hyundai Ioniq is tough to beat. Available as a hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or fully electric vehicle, the Ioniq has a lot to offer environmentally conscious drivers. Let’s take a look at its features and specs.

Engine and Performance

The Hyundai Ioniq’s powertrain is led by a 1.6-liter V4 engine and an electric motor in the hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. Together, they put out 139 horsepower. The engine is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. In the all-electric Ioniq, the electric motor manages 134 horsepower and has a single-speed transmission.

Both powertrains are remarkably fuel-efficient. For example, a base hybrid Ioniq manages 58 mpg in the city and 60 mpg on the highway, making it among the most fuel-efficient in the hybrid class. The all-electric Ioniq has a combined fuel efficiency rating of 133 miles per gallon equivalent. The plug-in hybrid has an all-electric range of 29 miles, while the all-electric Ioniq has a driving range of 170 miles.

If you opt for the all-electric Ioniq, you’ll need almost six hours to charge the battery with a 240-volt outlet. For the plug-in hybrid, the battery requires about 2 hours and 20 minutes to charge with a 240-volt outlet. If you use a DC fast charger, Hyundai says you can recharge 80% of the battery’s power within 54 minutes. There are many public DC charging sites across the United States.

Seating and Cargo Capacity

Inside the cabin, the Ioniq has space for five passengers to relax on cloth upholstery. The Ioniq provides comfortable accommodation for adult passengers. It also features two complete sets of LATCH connectors on the outermost rear seats and a tether anchor in the middle seat if you need to install child seating.

Behind the rear row of seating, you’ll find about 26 cubic feet of storage in the hybrid Ioniq. That drops slightly to about 23 cubic feet in the plug-in hybrid and all-electric setups due to the increased size of the battery pack. Even so, you’ll have plenty of space to carry a large load of groceries or luggage if you plan on going on vacation or you would like to enjoy a weekend away.

Infotainment and Technology

The key features of the Ioniq’s base infotainment system are the 8-inch infotainment screen and a six-speaker stereo. Other standard features include a USB port, Bluetooth connectivity, and smartphone compatibility. You can upgrade to a 10.25-inch screen. You can also upgrade to an eight-speaker premium stereo system. The Hyundai Ioniq also comes with a built-in navigation system, so you can always find your way to your chosen destination.

The Ioniq impresses with a broad range of standard safety features and several optional features. Its forward-collision warning is equipped with a pedestrian detection camera that will alert you when there is a potential collision with another vehicle or a pedestrian ahead. If you cannot quickly react to the warning, the Ioniq’s automatic emergency braking system will kick in to bring your vehicle to a sharp stop.

If you often take long drives, you’ll benefit from the driver attention monitor. The Driver Attention Warning technology monitors your reaction times and driver performance to detect when you start feeling tired and require a break. You’ll then receive an alert to inform you. For highway driving, you’ll enjoy the Ioniq’s automatic high-beam headlights and its Lane Keeping Assist feature.

Among the most important optional safety features you can choose from are front and rear parking sensors, which will make the task of maneuvering in and out of tight spots that much easier. Cyclist detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring are also on offer. For additional convenience on the highway, the Adaptive Cruise Control and Highway Driving Assist 2 features are available.

Trims

Before looking at the trims on the Ioniq, you’ll need to decide whether you want the hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or all-electric model. Hyundai offers different trim levels for each. The hybrid is sold in four trims: Blue, SE, SEL, and Limited. The plug-in hybrid features three trims: SE, SEL, and Limited. Two trims are offered for the all-electric Ioniq: SE and Limited. In its base trim, the Ioniq has a starting price of just over $23,000.

The Ioniq Blue is equipped with cloth upholstery and a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. Even though this is the base trim, you still get a good range of infotainment and safety features. In addition, dual-zone automatic climate control and proximity keyless entry are included.

Step up to the SE trim, and you’ll benefit from heated front seats, paddle shifters, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. In terms of entertainment, the SE trim adds satellite radio and the Blue Link telematics system. This system allows you to schedule your Ioniq’s charging to take advantage of lower electric rates and monitor the status of your Ioniq’s battery on your phone.

To ride in a touch more style, the SEL trim includes a sunroof and alloy wheels. It’s also equipped with wireless device charging so you can keep your phones and other electronic devices fully charged while you’re on the go.

The range-topping Limited features leather seats and a navigation system. You also get the larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen and the premium eight-speaker stereo.

When you’re looking to plan a fun activity, look to your local farms. Plenty of area farms offer pick your own programs that let you find pumpkins, berries, and more depending on the season. Koons Woodbridge Hyundai put together this list of top farms close to Alexandria to explore.

Miller Farms

Make the quick trip from Alexandria over to Clinton, Maryland, to enjoy Miller Farms. This 267-acre farm has been family owned and operated since 1879. This is the place to go for pick your own fun, as well as when you want to stock up on delicious produce or beautiful plants and flowers direct from the farm. Miller Farms grows a huge range of fruit and vegetables using sustainable practices, so you can feel good about the products you get from this amazing farm.

In the spring months, plan a trip to Miller Farms to pick your own strawberries. When October rolls around, you’ll want to add their Fall Family Fun event to your list of local things to do. The Fall Family Fun event offers everything from scenic hayrides to see the farm community, giant slides, a huge corn maze, Barnyard Buddies, and more. Of course, Miller Farms promises pumpkins of all shapes and sizes as part of the festive event.

Once you’ve had fun at the farm, you’ll want to make time to stop by the Farm Market. The fall season means you’ll find Miller Farms’ famous apple cider donuts, locally grown apples (and apple cider to go along with it), and more delicious food ready to enjoy. With fresh-baked pies and barbecue available every day, you can’t go wrong with a visit to this local farm. Don’t forget to leave room for the homemade ice cream while you’re there. Fall flavors like apple pie and pumpkin are the perfect autumn indulgence.

Shlagel Farms

You’ll find Shlagel Farms not far from Alexandria in Waldorf, Maryland, offering another fun outing to pick your own produce at a family farm. Today, the third generation of Shlagels are farming the same land. You can get in on the tradition by planning a fun day out and about. With activities available in both fall and spring, you’ll want to come back to Shlagel Farms every chance you get.

In October, you can pick your own pumpkins on select weekends. The farm also offers a bunch of fun activities, including a hay ride wagon, petting zoo, straw maze, and place for kiddos to hold baby chicks. This really is the place to go for classic autumn activities with loved ones.

Don’t forget about this farm in the springtime, though. When the weather starts warming up, you can look forward to a pick your own strawberry season. You can bring your own containers or get them at the farm, and they even offer berries to buy by the quart or flat for you if you don’t want to pick on a given day. The greenhouses are also open during berry season, so you can find beautiful hanging baskets and annual flats here as well. On the weekends, head over to the milkshake trailer for huge strawberry shortcakes, milkshakes, and cones.

Swann Farms

Located in Owings, Maryland, Swann Farms offers another possibility in easy reach of Alexandria when you’re in the mood to pick your own berries. This farm dates back to the 1850s, when it got it’s start as a tobacco farm. The family owned farm strives to deliver the highest quality to the community, so you know you can count on finding incredibly tasty berries and more to bring home.

Depending on the season, you can enjoy pick your own strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries. You’ll just buy a container at the farm stand and then pick what you want. The farm’s website includes up-to-date information about what berries are in season and available for picking.

You can also head to this farm for amazing produce and more. Stock up on blueberries and blackberries, or go for seedless watermelon, cantaloupe, or honeydew melons. Or, you can try some sweet corn, yellow squash, zucchini, pattipan squash, mini cucumbers, green peppers — the list goes on! Swann Farms even offers their own honey, so you’re sure to find something to love even when berries aren’t available to pick.

Homestead Farm

You’ll have to drive a bit further from Alexandria to visit Homestead Farm in Poolesville, Maryland, but you’ll be glad you made the trip once you get in on the pick your own fun. This farm offers a variety of pick your own opportunities through the summer and fall.

Typical seasons here include:

  • Mid-June for one or two weeks: Stop by to pick tart cherries.
  • Late June for two or three weeks: Mid-summer delivers delicious blueberries for you to pick.
  • Early/mid-July to mid-August: You can also pick thornless blackberries here.
  • Early July to late August: Later summer translates to peach season. Homestead Farm grows both yellow and white peaches, with different varieties ripening at different times throughout the season.
  • Late August/early September to late October: Fall means apple-picking season. Again, different varieties ripen at different times.
  • Late September through October 31st: You guessed it! October is time for picking pumpkins.

Macintosh Fruit Farm

Drive over to Berryville, Virginia, to explore another amazing farm complete with pick your own opportunities. That’s where you’ll find Macintosh Fruit Farm, open for pick your own fun through October 31.

The farm’s website has a section dedicated to keeping customer’s up-to-date on items available for picking, so check it out when you’re ready to plan your trip so you know what’s available. In today’s social and political climate, we see rising fuel prices and a growing desire to lower our carbon footprint create record-high demand for economical vehicles. Manufacturers such as Hyundai have been addressing this demand by blending fuel-efficient engines that not only save money but are fun to drive. Hyundai has remained at the forefront of the wave, introducing many hybrid and electric vehicles over the last 10 years.

Among the various Hyundai models, you’ll find economical gasoline engines with a hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrain option. You’ll also find the latest in all-electric vehicle technology on full display. So if you desire to elevate your Washington, D.C., commute, and save money at the pump simultaneously, Hyundai has a vehicle to suit your needs. To that end, we’ve created this list of the most fuel-efficient 2021 Hyundai models.

How Do Manufacturers Rate Efficiency?

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reviews fuel consumption data on every vehicle and produces an estimated rating. The EPA rates city driving, highway driving, and a combined rating that averages city and highway ratings.

Electric vehicles don’t use gasoline, so you can’t get a true usage rating in gallons. Therefore, the EPA uses an MPGe rating, or miles per gallon equivalent, which lets you see how electric and hybrid electric vehicles compare in terms of energy consumption.

One significant difference between gasoline and electric vehicles appears in the highway efficiency ratings. A gasoline-powered vehicle will almost always have a better rating for highway driving than for city driving. That’s because at highway speeds, the gasoline powertrain achieves an optimum output of power with less effort.

Conversely, an electric vehicle produces a steady stream of power to run the electric motor. The difference in an electric motor lies in its ability to recapture energy through technologies such as regenerative braking. Thus, driving around the city requires more braking than the highway, which returns more energy to the battery and increases your MPGe.

2021 Hyundai Ioniq Electric Hatchback

In terms of efficiency, the Ioniq Electric hatchback easily wins the top spot in Hyundai’s lineup. This all-electric vehicle expends 25 kilowatt-hours of energy every 100 miles. It has an outstanding city rating of 145 MPGe and a highway rating of 121 MPGe. Its combined rating comes in at 133 MPGe, earning it the top spot for efficiency. Also, the Ioniq Electric has a driving range of 170 miles on a full charge.

2021 Hyundai Kona Electric SUV

The Kona Electric SUV comes in second for most fuel-efficient Hyundai vehicles. It uses 27 kWh of electricity for every 100 miles resulting in ratings of 132 city, 108 highway, and 120 combined MPGe. The Kona Electric boasts a driving range of 258 miles, which beats the Ioniq Electric Hatchback by a wide margin. In addition, the Kona Electric uses a 150 kWh motor that boosts its range over the Ioniq Electric’s smaller 100 kWh motor.

2021 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid Hatchback

The combination of a 1.6-liter gasoline engine and a 32 kW electric motor give the Ioniq Hybrid a slight edge over other Hyundai hybrid vehicles using a paltry 1.7 gallons of gas for every 100 miles driven. As a result, the Ioniq Hybrid Hatchback delivers 58 mpg city, 60 mpg highway, and 59 mpg combined, making it the most efficient of Hyundai’s hybrid vehicle lineup. Also, the Ioniq Hybrid beats out every other hybrid vehicle in America.

2021 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Blue

Hyundai makes excellent use of another hybrid powertrain, combining a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and a 32 kW electric motor. This pairing results in 53 mpg city, 56 mpg highway, and 54 mpg combined ratings. In addition, the Elantra Hybrid uses only 1.9 gallons for every 100 miles driven, making it one of the most efficient midsize sedans on the market.

The Elantra comes in a base hybrid trim that delivers 49 mpg city, 52 mpg highway, and 50 mpg combined efficiency ratings. Hyundai’s 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine consumes only 2 gallons of gas every 100 miles.

2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Blue

The newly redesigned Sonata Hybrid features sleek style and the latest tech to deliver a superior midsize sedan. The Sonata takes electric power sourcing to a new level with an available solar panel roof that captures the sun’s energy and returns it to the battery. One day of sunlight produces two hours of drive time, totaling over 700 miles of free driving every year.

Hyundai uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and electric motor to produce 194 horsepower and efficiency ratings of 50 mpg city, 54 mpg highway, and 52 mpg combined. Altogether, this powertrain uses only 1.9 gallons of gas for every 100 miles it drives.

Like the Elantra, the Sonata also offers a base hybrid trim that impresses its efficiency ratings. Scoring a 45 mpg city, 51 mpg highway, and 47 mpg combined, the standard Sonata hybrid makes excellent use of its hybrid powertrain. Also, it burns a mere 2.1 gallons of gas every 100 miles.

2021 Hyundai Elantra

Even Hyundai’s gasoline-powered Elantra makes the list for best fuel efficiency. Elantra’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine offers ratings of 33 mpg city, 43 mpg highway, and 37 mpg combined while only using 2.7 gallons of gas for every 100 miles driven.

2021 Hyundai Accent

In the compact sedan category, Hyundai’s most efficient vehicle remains the Accent. Under the hood, you’ll find a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers efficiency ratings of 33 mpg city, 41 mpg highway, and 36 mpg combined. Plus, it has a clean, modern design and comes packed with the latest in-vehicle and safety tech to keep you connected and safe. Burning only 2.8 gallons of gas for every 100 miles driven makes it one of the most efficient cars on the road today.

If you want your next car to be a sedan, you have a lot of options to choose from. So many options, in fact, that it can be hard to even narrow it down to a select few. However, there are some sedans that stand out above the rest. Two such options are the 2021 Hyundai Sonata and the 2021 Hyundai Elantra. While these cars are both excellent, they still have some significant differences between them. Below, we’ll outline some of these key differences and show why both the Sonata and Elantra are great models to consider.

Exterior Design of the Elantra and Sonata

Perhaps the most obvious difference between these two models is their shape with each car falling under its own class of sedan. The Elantra is considered a compact sedan, which essentially means it is smaller than the Sonata. You’ll feel this size difference practically everywhere, from the legroom inside, to the wheelbase and cargo size. However, just because it’s a compact sedan doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of room inside, it’s just more of a personal preference as to how much space you need and how big of a car you want to drive.

The Hyundai Elantra and Sonata are designed a little differently as well. There’s a few nuances you’ll notice when you are looking at the car, in terms of its lines and colors. With these subtle differences, you won’t mistake the Elantra for just a smaller version of the Sonata.

Performance and Efficiency

One of the primary concerns for any new car buyer is the performance of the vehicle they’re buying. Since the Elantra and Sonata are in different sedan classes, they also have different engine options under the hood. In the Elantra, you’ll find a 2.0 L engine that provides 147 horsepower, but you can also upgrade to either a 1.6 L turbocharged engine that produces 200 horsepower. For a compact sedan, this is quite a bit of power.

With the Sonata, you get even more power. The standard engine is a 2.4 L four-cylinder that produces 185 horsepower, but there’s also a more efficient option you can get that produces 178 horsepower, or you can get a turbocharged engine that produces 245 horsepower. These different options allow you to customize your choice a little bit and balance cost, efficiency, and power to your liking.

Lastly, because there are different engines, this also means different fuel efficiency. The Elantra provides about 33 MPG in the city and 43 MPG on the highway, making it very efficient. The Sonata is a little less efficient, coming in at 28 MPG in the city and 38 on the highway. Still, you can’t go wrong with either vehicle since both provide excellent efficiency numbers.

Safety

Both of these sedans come with the latest safety features. For example, both the Elantra and the Sonata come with:

  • Anti-lock brakes
  • Daytime running lights
  • Front-impact airbags for both the driver and passenger
  • A security system
  • And a panic alarm
  • Blindspot warning
  • Lane departure warning
  • Pre-collision safety system
  • Stability control
  • Tire pressure monitoring

Both of these sedans received strong safety ratings. If there is a specific safety feature you are looking for, you should ensure that the trim level you’re considering has it, as some safety features only come on certain trims. All in all, though, both the Sonata and the Elantra provide drivers and passengers alike with a safe ride that is sure to put your mind at ease.

Ride Comfort

Comfort is a big part of any car purchase. You don’t want to get something that will leave you feeling uncomfortable after just a short drive. One comfort factor is how much space you have, and in this area, the Sonata is a little better due to its larger interior space. Although, unless you are on the very tall side, you may find the Elantra has enough room for you and your passengers anyway.

The Sonata also comes with some additional features that may make for a more comfortable or enjoyable ride. For example, on the Sonata you can get:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Keyless ignition
  • Transmission controls on the steering wheel
  • Heated and leather steering wheel
  • Interior air filtration
  • Illuminating vanity mirrors

If these additional features appeal to you, you should consider going with the Sonata over the Elantra. However, keep in mind that adding these features may lead to a higher cost for the vehicle.

Entertainment and Technology

Finally, there’s the onboard technology that can make your ride a little more fun. Both models come with the ability to plug in an auxiliary input so that you can play your favorite media from an external source. In addition, both models can come with an infotainment system, which is a touchscreen that you can connect to either your Android or Apple device. Once connected, you can easily play music from your favorite streaming service or use your favorite navigation apps right from your center console.

There are a few minor differences in these vehicles in terms of entertainment technology. For instance, the Elantra comes with speed-sensitive volume controls, which adjusts the volume based on how fast you’re driving. The Sonata, on the other hand, comes with 12 total speakers, while the Elantra only comes with 4. It’s often best to see these features in person so we highly recommend taking each vehicle for a test drive to see which ones you like best.

Choosing Between the 2021 Hyundai Elantra or the 2021 Hyundai Sonata

As you can see, there’s a lot of similarities between the Elantra and Sonata. However, there are some significant differences that may help you make your decision. For example, are you looking for something small and compact like the Elantra or do you want something more powerful like the Sonata?  Do you want to pay more for features in the Sonata like keyless ignition or adaptive cruise control? The answers to questions like this will help you decide which car is right for you.

When you sustain a plant-based diet, it may be challenging to find vegan restaurants nearby. Koons Woodbridge Hyundai wants to help you out, so we compiled this list of the top vegan restaurants in the D.C. area. We highlight specialty menu items and which restaurants offer carryout or delivery service, giving you a quick reference of local vegan dining spots.

Vegz

Vegz focuses on creating flavorful and satisfying plant-based dishes in an authentic South Indian style. Chef Swarn Singh is a vegetarian himself, and he’s passionate about making delicious vegetarian and vegan meals. These entrees are so tasty and filling that they will even satisfy meat eaters. The delicious food is reasonably priced, with large entrees from $10 to $14 each.

Start your meal with the delectable crispy Spinach Chat for an appetizer or try a samosa with tasty green dipping sauce. Then enjoy any of the many dosas, which are savory Indian-style lentil-based crepes and have a variety of fillings. The Paneer Dosa, stuffed with grated Indian cottage cheese, is a local favorite. Another delicious dish is the Bhindi Dopiaza, which is a large plate of stir-fried okra served with basmati rice. Other specialties include many additional paneer dishes and the garlic parmesan fries. You may also want to try the fresh vegetable or fruit juice.

You can find Vegz at 2120 18th St. NW in the basement, and it’s open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The restaurant has dine-in services, curbside pickup, and no-contact delivery available.

Elife Restaurant

Everlasting Life Restaurant, or Elife, has been serving delicious vegan soul food in the D.C. area for over 25 years. Their 100% vegan menu contains both cooked entrees and raw foods. Elife’s menu promotes health with soul and features items such as barbecue tofu, drumettes, and macaroni and cheese. Elife is very active in the community and also hosts regular events, such as cooking demos and classes, children’s nights with educational activities, and a monthly shopping bazaar.

Elife makes mouthwatering pancakes with soy milk, and they are served with authentic maple syrup. The very popular drumettes come in several flavors, including maple curry and Buffalo.

Elife is located at 341 Cedar St. NW and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is closed on Mondays. Elife has dine-in and pickup service available at the Takoma location.

Busboys and Poets

If you’re looking for a vegan restaurant that is also an intellectual and creative outlet, a bookstore, and a community gathering place, Busboys and Poets is the place for you. If you’re planning to buy a vehicle in Woodbridge, Virginia, you’ll probably need to get an auto loan. Your ability to secure financing largely depends on your credit score. However, having a poor credit score doesn’t mean you should give up on your dream car. Check out this helpful guide to fix your bad credit and get approved for a car loan.

Why Does Your Credit Score Matter When Applying for an Auto Loan?

Your credit score is one of the main factors that auto loan providers take into consideration when determining whether they should approve your loan application. This is because your credit rating is an indication of your ability to consistently make your monthly payments and eventually pay off your loan.

Major banks tend to have stricter credit requirements than credit unions and private lenders. If your credit score isn’t so good, a lender will have to take a bigger risk in providing you with a loan. Therefore, you can expect to have a hard time getting an auto loan with bad credit.

Besides reducing your loan approval chances, a low credit score can also affect the interest rate on your auto loan. Even if you manage to find a lender that will overlook your bad credit, you can expect to pay a significantly higher interest rate. Increasing your interest rate is a way for the lender to compensate for the extra risk they’re assuming.

How To Repair Your Bad Credit

Improving your credit score is the best way to boost your chances of getting a car loan and keeping your interest rate low. Some of the things you can do to fix your bad credit include:

Check Your Credit Reports for Errors

Although they’re usually accurate, your credit reports may sometimes contain errors that can bring down your credit score. So, if you’ve been meeting your loan obligations but your score isn’t as good as it should be, it may be worthwhile to review your credit reports.

Once a year, you’re allowed to ask for a free copy of your credit report from the three main credit agencies, which are TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax. Carefully go through your credit reports and look for mistakes such as duplicate accounts, wrong account statuses, inaccurate balances, and incorrect delinquent payments. If there are errors on your credit reports, disputing them is one of the easiest ways to boost your credit score.

Make Payments on Time

Your payment history is probably the biggest factor impacting your credit rating. When you’re trying to rebuild your credit, you can’t afford to have another late payment listed on your credit reports. Bear in mind that late payments will remain on your reports for seven and a half years, making them more difficult to recover from than many other negative items. As such, you should try your best to pay your bills and lines of credit on time. Even if you can pay only the minimum, it’s better than being late or missing a payment.

Keep Your Credit Utilization Rate Low

Credit utilization refers to the percentage of overall available credit you’re currently using. The lower your credit utilization, the higher your credit score. Most experts recommend using no more than 30% of the limit on any of your credit cards. Check the credit utilization rates for all of your cards and try to bring down the highest ones. Your credit score will improve when your credit card issuers report lower balances to the credit agencies. Once your balances are reduced, past high credit utilization won’t hurt your score.

Apply for a Secured Credit Card

Typically, a secured credit card is meant for people who are building their credit from scratch. It may be a good idea to get one if you’ve canceled all of your credit cards. This type of credit card works like a regular credit card, but it requires a deposit upfront, which is usually the credit limit. Choosing a secured credit card from an issuer that reports to the major credit agencies can help raise your credit score.

Become an Authorized User on a Credit Card

If possible, consider asking a family member, relative, or friend to make you an authorized user on their credit card. Even if you don’t access their credit card account or make any charges, your credit score can benefit just from you being on the account. However, you should note that the effect on your score may not be significant because you aren’t responsible for paying the debt on the account. Also, becoming an authorized user can hurt your credit if the person who holds the account fails to pay bills on time.

If you’re looking for a five-passenger SUV with power, comfort, and all the latest technology, you need to visit Koons Woodbridge Hyundai and check out the Santa Fe and Tuscon models. We have one of the most expansive inventories of these two SUVs in the Washington, D.C., area.

You’re sure to find the perfect vehicle with all the amenities you crave at Koons Woodbridge Hyundai priced to fit any budget. If you already narrowed down your options and are trying to choose between the Santa Fe and the Tuscon, here’s some help.

Santa Fe Performance

The five-passenger Santa Fe offers three powertrain options. The standard gasoline engine delivers balanced performance and efficiency. Santa Fe’s turbocharged engine provides a more thrilling drive without sacrificing efficiency, but the hybrid powertrain gives you exceptional efficiency with all the capability you need. Hyundai offers its HTRAC All-Wheel-Drive system on every model, giving your family the ability to take the road less traveled without worrying if you’ll get through the rougher patches.

When properly equipped, the Santa Fe can tow up to 3,500 pounds. An available Trailer Sway Control system works with your Electronic Stability Control system to keep you and your trailer moving in your intended direction. The system senses when the trailer begins to sway and automatically reduces throttle and engages braking to stabilize your Santa Fe and trailer.

Santa Fe Trim Highlights

You can do it all in the ultimate comfort with the Calligraphy trim. You get the luxurious amenities that elevate your ride and the performance of HTRAC standard. Premium Nappa leather seats and quilted leather door panels add interior refinement, while the signature front fascia with LED lighting and 20-inch alloy wheels give you a sophisticated curb appeal.

Highlights on the Santa Fe base model SE include the 2.5-liter Smartstream four-cylinder engine that gets 26 mpg combined. It comes with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection (FCA-Ped), an 8-inch color touchscreen display audio, 18-inch alloy wheels, and LED headlights. The SEL trim adds Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA), Hyundai’s Bluelink connected car system, and wireless charging for your smartphone.

The Limited model builds on the lower trims by adding Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA), which lets you remotely park your vehicle in tight spaces and safely move them out. You also get 19-inch alloy wheels, the Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), and the Surround View Monitor (SVM). The BVM and SVM let you see areas around your Santa Fe to help you better navigate. Hyundai uses the 2.5-liter turbocharged engine for impressive power-on-demand while still delivering a 25 mpg combined rating.

Hyundai offers several Santa Fe hybrid trims starting with the Hybrid Blue. This powertrain uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid four-cylinder engine that gets 34 mpg combined. HTRAC AWD comes standard, along with a 12.3-inch fully digital gauge cluster, a hands-free smart liftgate with auto open functionality, and the BCA system. The Hybrid SEL Premium model adds 19-inch alloy wheels and a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation. You also enjoy the panoramic sunroof.

Finally, you have the Hybrid Limited trim. The mpg combined rating dips to 32, yet you get the HTRAC AWD plus the BVM, SVM, and RSPA systems as standard features.

Santa Fe Technology

Now you can sync your smartphones to your standard 8-inch touchscreen or the available 10.25-inch display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability allow you hands-free operation and access to all your favorite apps. Additional available driver-assist systems include Highway Driving Assist (HDA), Lane Following Assist (LFA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Safe Exit Assist (SEA), Ultrasonic Rear Occupant Alert (Ultrasonic ROA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), High Beam Assist (HBA), and Smart Cruise Control (SCC).

Tuscon Performance

While the Tuscon measures slightly smaller than the Santa Fe, it comes up big in some pretty remarkable ways. You have three powertrain options with the Tuscon. A standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine puts out 187 horsepower with a 29 mpg combined rating. The 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbocharged hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines provide power and efficiency rating at 38 mpg combined.

The sculpted athletic exterior speaks to its capability even while parked at the curb. The available HTRAC AWD system backs up the look with the performance you can rely on. When properly equipped, the Tuscon can tow up to 2,000 pounds.

Tuscon Trim Highlights

The Hyundai Tuscon base model SE uses the 2.5-liter engine with multi-port fuel injection technology. It also comes with an 8-inch color touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. LED signature lighting illuminates your way, plus you get the ROA system to alert you when rear passengers or gear gets left in the back seat. You get a proximity key with pushbutton start on the SEL model. Hyundai also gives you heated seats, the Bluelink connected car system, and the BCA driver-assist system.

Moving to the Limited trim, you get the upgraded 10.25-inch touchscreen audio display with navigation, a panoramic sunroof, and the BVM and RSPA driver-assist systems. The Hybrid Blue model comes with the 1.6-liter turbo hybrid powertrain with HTRAC AWD standard. You also get the Bluelink connected car system to go with the BCA and SCC driver-assist systems.

The Hybrid Blue Convenience trim upgrades to 19-inch alloy wheels and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The Hybrid Limited trim comes with the 10.25-inch touchscreen standard and the BVM and RSPA driver-assist systems.

Tuscon Technology

As you might expect, the Hyundai offers all the same driver-assist systems on the Tuscon as the Santa Fe. These systems use advanced radar and cameras to monitor and alert you to potential problems and, in some cases, can intervene with emergency steering and brake support.

When you compare the Santa Fe and the Tuscon, you will find that they both have exceptional qualities. At Koons Woodbridge Hyundai, we know choosing one over the other comes down to personal preference. That’s why we stock an expansive inventory of both vehicles. You can browse our inventory online or stop in for a test drive anytime.
